Bellmont High school will be hosting the ISSMA ( Indiana State School Music Association) district competition Saturday Feb. 2nd.  For those of you with children attending remember this can be a stressfull event for them.  For some of those competing, it will be their first time in a solo event,  help them be prepared by reviewing all the requirements at issma.net  Make sure they get a good nights sleep and breakfast the in the morning before the competition.

Bellmont Middle School Swim team which is comprised of 6-8th grade boys and girls will open their season tonight.  Tonights meet will be against Adams Central Middle School and begins at 5:30pm at the Bellmont High School pool. 

The South Adams School Board is considering implementing a random drug screen policy for students that drive to school.  Ive heard of drug testing for students that play sports but not for kids that drive to school.  While as a parent I fully understand that they doing it for a concern for our children but is this really necessary? Do we drug screen teachers that drive to work? Let me know what your thoughts are.

The United Way of Adams County is quickly approaching its goal of $205,000.  To date it has collected in the neighborhood of $170,000. This puts them at over eighty percent of the way to achieving their objective.  The Adams County United Way located in Decatur, IN supports may local organizations including the Boy & Girls club, Boy Scouts-Anthony Wayne Council, Girl Scouts-Limberlost Council , and many other local organizations. Welcome Eveyone,  As you can tell this is a new site I’ve decided to start about Decatur, IN.  Yes I do live here and have been a resident of Adams County for several years now.  My kids have all grown up in the area and attend school here in Decatur, so I decided to start a blog about the local community.  Im not sure where exactly this blog will end up but should be a learning experience for my family and I .  While I’ll try to keep the posts related to Decatur and Adams county it is highly possible I’ll get off topic from time to time and just rant about random thoughts.
