EBay, which launched its new affiliate program back in April just, released an announcement earlier this week informing its affiliate partners that it had made a big mistake. The EBay partner network that used to be handled by Commission Junction failed to calculate the correct amount of commissions for its eBay affiliates. If your not familiar with internet marketing or making money with affiliate programs this may not mean much to you but for those of us that have or do make some extra income through the eBay affiliate program this is huge. EBay stated that the problem was corrected on June 15th and a bonus check will be sent out next pay period to those EBay affiliates that were short changed. I know many in the internet marketing world that have been saying all along that eBay had to be doing something wrong as their earnings had drastically dropped. Well rest assured eBay has admitted their mistake and is making good. This should hopefully put many eBay affiliates and Internet marketing users mind at ease. This shows that while eBay an expert company in the online auction business is striving for the same type of quality in the eBay partner network. If you not familiar with the eBay affiliate network you can read more about it here. Here is part of the announcement eBay posted to its affiliates. Made For Affiliates, By Affiliates. Pepperjam Network.
As we mentioned on the discussion boards, we’ve identified an issue affecting the way ACRUs were being attributed to affiliates. Although on the eBay Partner Network we use the same underlying tracking system as on Commission Junction (Value Click’s MediaPlex), when we switched to the eBay Partner Network a small issue was introduced where in certain circumstances ACRUs were not credited to the right affiliate. Many but not all of our affiliates were affected. This issue happened only when the user confirmed registration on one day, but did not activate via a bid or BIN until the next day or later. Please note that this affected ACRU counts on the eBay Partner Network from launch until a fix was put in place on June 15th.
I’ll be interested to see If this helps out my performance with ebay profits.
I use EPN all the time glad to hear they finally got it figured out. I was wondering why so many affiliates were mad at Ebay taking over but guess now I can see why. Wonder how many other errors ebay is making with their affiliate tracking
