Fort Wayne and National Media Covering Principal Story

Well I see that our little town has now finally caught the attention of all the Fort Wayne media. Before I go further I would like to ask all the readers from the last few days visit the original story posted on wane.com and leave them a comment thanking them for their coverage. Ok, back to the topic at hand. Wise33 today interviewed him again and spoke with a few people from town asking if he should keep his job. In the story it mentioned that he and his attorney are working with the school board to see if they can work something out that will allow him to keep his job. This story was then republished on MSNBC.COM. So it appears that the ” Decatur Assistant Principal Scandal” has become a story of national interest. Wow I really didn’t expect this. The last time I remember Decatur Indiana getting so much news attention was during the flood a few years back. While I find it a bit exciting I also have to wonder how he could have put his family’s feelings and job at risk. I hope everyone following this story thinks about the possible outcomes of their actions before they do something stupid like this.

That is terrible! I’m not fond of the man, but kicking a dog when its down is soooooooooo wrong. I better never hear names from my kids mouths. If my Dad were made fun of every day and humiliated, I would be so sad. It will happen, happens now to other teachers, but nothing this bad. I don’t think the name calling will bother him. He has placed himself so high. But, his kids I feel real sorry for.

Well Mr Hakes WILL NOT be at the Middle school on Aug 18th. A letter was sent to all Middle school parents yesterday stating he was currently on admin leave and they are working with the attornies/school board etc about the continuation of his posistion, etc etc etc.

I had heard they asked him to step down and he refused, OF course he refused in his mind rules and punishment do not apply to him.

Mr. Anderson was the best principal that I had ever worked for as a substitute teacher. Glad to hear that he is back.

Any one know whats being built behind the waste treatment plat? Noticed they brought in about a dozen or more loads of concrete on Thursday. Hopefully, three cheers for the school board at their next meeting. Now we”l see who’s got some guts to do the right thing

Syliva–Mr Takes—-I find that name very amusing…I am sure that is now his new nickname—very funny.

Also would like to add at Freshman orientation it was mentioned “Girls please do not take naked pictures of yourself and send them to boys from your cell phone” Good Lord, like that needs to be said—apparently it does!!!

    Karan,
From the discoveries I made in one of my other posts http://wimzit.com/2008/03/04/are-you-sure-your-children-are-being-responsible-on-the-internet/ I applaud them for bringing up the photo issue and think they should probably have a class lecture on the dangers of current technology.
