That's good to hear. I'm glad the teacher has decided to be fair and show both political candidates views

Thank you all for your comments. It seems the teacher will be having the other party representatives next week. My student was one of the ones interviewed for the Decatur Daily Dumocrat ( spelled correctly) when voter registration was done at Bellmont, with my student's picture in the paper. I just cannot understand how sad it is that a teacher can be allowed to spew lies and biased propoganda for certain candidates and not even once entertain a fair delivery of information to these first time voters. Thanks again for letting me vent!!!

This biased presentation of political views in the schools is nothing new. I've not heard from my kids about it, but since they aren't old enough to vote yet I'm sure they dont care. I'm just guessing but were the people invited to class Democrats? Democrats have a long standing with the teachers union. I fully agree that both side should always be presented but this is definately nothing new. Unless things have changed they still teach evolution and dont dare touch on any other theories. I've made a point to explain these type of situations to my kids and encourage them to challange any teacher that presents one sided facts or opinions about politics, science , ethics or any other topics discussed in school. I am happy to say so far so good. I've heard from more than one teacher that one of my kids demands the facts!!! They should teach more critical thinking in school then kids will have a better understanding between facts and opinions.

Are Election Polls Worthless?...

How often are our election outcomes actually decided by the news coverage of election polls? Are they really adding any value or do they just impact voter turnout. I personally think we would be better off if polls didn't receive so much focus durin...

The teacher should invite reps. from both the Democratic and Republican party, so the students can decide whom to vote for if they are old enought to do so. I would be interested to see what both sides offer to the voters, so I could decide. He should have had both in to talk to the students. I bet the students hear about who the parents are voting for at home, though.
My opinion, and VOTE. Adams county needs more young people to vote, and have a voice....not just the same old, same old ones voting. VOTE!!! for a change!!!!!!

I know this is neither here nor there, but I would like to read some comments about a matter that has been bothering me. My child attends Bellmont and has to take a government course to graduate. However, because this is an election year, the teacher deems it neccesary to expouse his views and bring in the Adams County Chairperson and have a chart of who is running for office in Adams County. Now this is all well and good for those students who are 18 and ready to vote for the first time. But, all he is telling students in ALL THE FRIGGIN INFORMATION OF ONE FRIGGIN PARTY! Shouldn't he be unbiased? Fair? Any comments, Admin?
