Congratulations to the Bellmont Braves in their outstanding football season that ended in a div 3a Indiana State Football title. Bellmont defeated Evansville Memorial 28-14 on Saturday afternoon in front of a huge crowd at the Lucas Oil Stadium home of the Indianapolis Colts. The Decatur football players got to be in the spotlight and showcase their talents on Indianapolis television station WIBC as well as broadcast live on the Internet.
In addition to the Statewide audience on the television, these young men were recognized, congratulated and interviewed on just about every newspaper in the state. Team photo’s, game clips, and quotes are popping up all over the Internet. If you missed the game between Bellmont and Evansville Memorial, I believe you can view it at IHSAA.org in their video vault section. I’m not sure if the game is available there yet but I know in the past they have the full video broadcasts of the state championship games available. Congrats again to the Bellmont Braves for an outstanding football season!!!

I think that this is a very GREAT thing to happen for the students at the High School in Decatur! It shows what hard training and never giving up can accomplish!!! This lesson should also be taken to show the students to study hard, continuously strive to learn, ask for tutoring if needed to be able to overcome an obstacle in learning, and never give up! YOU will go far in life with that formula in use for your goals and to expand your knowledge in many areas! GREAT GOING BELLMONT FOOTBALL PLAYERS AND ALSO TO THE STUDENTS WHO ATTENDED THE GAMES TO ROOT THE TEAM ON! ALSO, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHEERLEADERS FOR ALL THEIR VERY HARD WORK TO KEEP THE ENTHUSIASM ALIVE AND WELL FOR THE BELLMONT FANS!!! The entire combination of all these working together brought the Championship to Bellmont High School!!!!

Way to go BRAVES—-you boys dominated the entire game…I would love to know is there another school anywhere in any class in Indiana that has ever won thier 1st ever Regional/Sectional/Semi state and State championship game in 1 season??

FYI the drive back into Decatur Sat night was heart warming to say the least, the fans that lined the cold streets of decatur with thier signs was really something special to see.
I am so glad my family was a part of something so special.
Makes me happy to call Decatur home–win or lose our boys had the entire support of our community. As coach B said at the pep rally following Saturdays game you could feel not only the team coming togather more the last few weeks, but you could feel the town coming closer. It was wonderful.
