Ok if any of you have high school student’s you know the High School Prom season is just around the corner. I noticed last weekend when we were out at Jefferson point to watch a movie many of the shop windows were already displaying formal dresses for prom and tuxedos. Having daughters I know the importance of finding just the right formal prom dress that compliments their figure, skin color and personality. Fortunately being a male all I ever had to worry about was making sure I had my tuxedo rental reserved before I was stuck with something nobody would wear.
I have put together a list of places in Fort Wayne that rent formal wear to help out some of you guys who will be attending prom for the first time. This is just a list of formal wear rentals stores in the Decatur area I found searching google.
A. Rogers Formal Wear
B. The Men’s Wearhouse, Ft. Wayne, In
C. Louie’s Tux Shop
D. Wendy’s Bridal Shoppe
E. Perfect Dress The
F. Louie’s Tux Shop -
G. Andrew Davis Menswear
H. MW Tux
I. Touma’s Tuxedos
J. Mr Tuxedo Inc
K. G & K Creations – Berne
L. Masterson’s Clothing Store – Bluffton
Fellas don’t forget to take the time out to try on your tux when it comes in just to make sure everything will fit ok. I know one year I went to prom in shoes that were no where near the right size.

My siblings went to school in New York and at their prom the school put up some temporary bleachers and had paid for two limos to drive the kids up to the sidewald where they were introduced to the crowd by an anouncer on a mic. one limo at a time. The kids didn’t have to rent a limo. Yes, there was much fundraising for this special treat, but it was very neat for the public to see all the pretty dresses. Maybe Bellmont might want to do this. Not sure what funds they have, but what a neat idea. I sure would go to watch and would pay for a bleacher seat. Oh, to only be 18 again! Enjoy youth while you can—-enjoy school, a fun part time job, your friends, even the teachers who might give ya a hard time. Looking back it was the best!!!
Yeah prom brings back such memories. I think the whole renting tuxedo and buying overly expensive prom dresses has unfortunately left a lot of kids feeling like they dont want to go. Many kids just flat out can’t afford the type of expense required for overly formal proms
Need to do an inexpensive prom so everyone who wants to attend can do so. Maybe skip the real formal wear. I loved to get dressed up for my proms back in the 70″s and 80’s at BHS…I even got to attend an AC on in 79. cool!!!
