Is Green Home Remodeling The Way To Go?

Is Green remodeling the right choice? My wife and I have been contemplating doing some home remodeling this summer both inside the house and out. I’ve been spending quite a bit of time lately searching the Internet and learning about green home remodeling and how to remodel your house using environmentally friendly products. I’m not usually one to be overly concerned on maintaining a green lifestyle or reducing my carbon footprint but with all the recycled materials available today that lend themselves to green remodeling I thought I might as well give it a go. Most of the new green remodeling products available today are slightly more expensive than their not so green counterparts, but using recycled building materials in for your green home remodeling can be quite economical. Many people I’ve talked to think that going green when remodeling means you have to sacrafice in quality but nothing could be further from the truth. In my research i’ve found that most eco-friendly construction materials you would use in a green home remodel are just as durable, reputable and easy to work with as any others on the market.
The funny part thing about wanting to do some home remodeling this summer is that several over the changes we would like to make aren’t exactly designed for the do it yourself home carpenter. It just so happened that while I was discussing my plans with a co-worker he actually knew a contractor that specialized in green home remodeling as well as environmentally friendly commercial remodeling in Fort Wayne. I will be contacting them to get some quotes on how much its going to cost to do our green home remodeling and compare it to other prices.  Hopefully the cost of doing a green remodeling of our house will be inline or close to traditional construction.  If anyone knows of other good home remodeling contractors in Decatur or Fort Wayne area let me know.  I’ll let everyone know what I find out so that you can decide if doing an environmentally friendly home remodel makes since to you.

    Anxious to know how the quotes came in for your green gremodeling project. When we’ve shopped around for eco-friendly alternatives for our remodels, we’ve discovered that they often carry a 20-25% price premium over standard materials.
